What We Do

Our Programs

We have designed various programs to deliver our mission of turning Togo into a vibrant Democracy. Our approach emphasize innovating thinking, non-partisanship and civil ownership of process that reinforce the rule of law.

We help activists and communities by providing programs, information and resources to assist in their journey. We also help by raising awareness through public outreach and media.

  • Non-Violent Civil Resistance

Civil resistance through a well organized movement is a powerful weapon. We train groups and individuals on how to effectively defy injustice while remaining safe.

  • Democracy Advocacy

Togo is the last remaining stronghold of outdated dictatorship in West Africa. This is why we deploy every effort to educate regional actors in Africa, including Government actors, inter-government agencies, civil societies and the media. Our advocacy effort in the US focuses on educating lawmakers and public officials on the plight of the people of Togo.

  • Civil Society Capacity Building

A well organized and skilled civil society is by far the most critical engine for Democracy. Togo Civil Society is rich of dedicated men and women organizing to hold the government and politicians accountable. However, they have to often operate in a highly restrictive environment with limited resources. The Togolese Civil League seeks to empower members of the Civil Society including organizations and activists through knowledge, networking, system building and continued support.
